Benefits of Juicing

Eating healthier is a common resolution for many in the new year. One way to accomplish that is by introducing juicing into the diet. Zach Bowers offers a variety of tasty, yet healthy, juicing options that will help you up your daily intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.

RECIPES

Blue Moon
– 3 cups Spinach
– 1 cup Kale
– 1 1/2 cups Blackberries
– 1 cup Blueberries
– 3 Carrots
– 1 Apple
– 1 Pear

The combination of berries in this juice blend not only taste great, they are bursting with antioxidants which fight against free radical damage. Spinach and kale contain chlorophyll which helps oxygenate the blood, leading to increased brain function and energy. Pear helps the body flush out toxins and apple gives the immune system a boost.

Kid Friendly Green Juice

a large handful of baby spinach

1/2 a head(?) romaine lettuce

3-4 springs parsley

2 ribs celery

1 cucumber

2 carrots

1 golden delicious apple

1 navel orange, peeled

 

Strawberry-Pineapple-Mint Juice
1/2 large pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into cubes
1 cup strawberries
1 pear
30 mint leaves

Carrot Pineapple Orange Juice
1 small orange, including rind, seeded and cut into pieces
1/8 small, ripe pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into pieces
2 carrots, scrubbed clean and cut into pieces
Juice of 1/2 lemon (stirred in at end)
