More than 500 lbs of Food Collected for Churches United Pantry
Helping those who help others. That was the mission of the 2013 Each One Bring One Food Drive, sponsored by WTLW TV-44. From December 4-6, members of 26 area high school choirs were invited to bring non-perishable food items to the TV-44 studios, during the taping of Holiday Music Festival. As a result, more than 500 lbs of canned and boxed food items and $154 in monetary donations were collected for the Churches United Pantry, or CUP, in Lima.
“This is such a blessing to us,” said Mary Stapleton, C.U.P. Board President. “We have been seeing a steady increase in families coming to us. There are many good, hard working people in Lima that benefit from this pantry to get through the month. We are very thankful for this.”
Schools participating in the Each One Bring One Food Drive were: Allen East, Arcadia, Bath, Bluffton, Botkins, Columbus Grove, Delphos Jefferson, Delphos St. Johns, Elida, Kalida, Leipsic, Lincolnview, Lima Senior, New Bremen, Ottawa Glandorf, Pandora Gilboa, Parkway, Perry, St. Marys, Shawnee, Spencerville, Temple Christian, Van Buren, Van Wert, and Wapakoneta. Members of the community also donated items to the food drive.
